Who we are

Spice Lee Media is a food media outlet dedicated to creating content that is informative, entertaining, and guaranteed to make your mouth water. With a special focus on the Black food experience and all it encompasses, Spice Lee Media was founded in 2022 by Aria Brent to blend “tha culture” with culinary arts.

Here, you’ll find engaging stories that delve into the history of beloved Black cuisines, profiles of influential Black restaurateurs, chefs, authors, and food personalities, as well as recipes that evoke a sense of family and tradition. Join us as we celebrate the rich tapestry of flavors and stories that define the Black culinary experience.

Meet the Founder 

Aria Brent is a dedicated journalist, content creator, and recipe developer with a passion for the culinary arts and storytelling. She honed her media skills at Jackson State University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Media Studies.

Aria currently works for AFRO News, the DMV’s oldest Black-owned business, where she highlights local enterprises, addresses national health issues, and shares the stories of everyday people making a difference in their communities. As the host of AFRO Cooking Live, a weekly online cooking segment, she combines her love for food with her on-air experience.

Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Aria's cooking style is deeply influenced by her time in the Deep South. Her affection for Black history and culture is reflected in her articles and recipes. Currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Food Studies at New York University, she aims to enhance her skills and broaden her cultural insights as a food media professional.

Describing her content creation style as "creative, personable, and engaging," Aria strives to connect with audiences through flavorful storytelling and innovative recipes.
